A diverse workforce is good for business!

Our 2nd birthday (today!!) falls with at the start of Global Diversity Awareness month, and what better way to celebrate than to launch our very own dedicated arm to D&I. The TalentWorks Academy is our long term vision to ensure our industry remains accessible regardless of education or background.

We’re all in the game of communications & content.

Our clients are trying to communicate to a diverse set of the population via content targeted at their age, gender, religious beliefs, ethnicity, the list goes on.

Yet, when you look at your teams pulling these plans & messages together, are they representative of the diverse UK population? I bet they’re not.

Having a diverse workforce is good for business!!

It’s about having different backgrounds & views all going in the melting pot. How dull would life be if we all agreed about the same things, and had the same upbringing?

Most people like to surround themselves with people like them. If that’s the way you like your personal life, you carry on, but professionally, your clients are paying your teams to be innovative & creative.

There are various stats quoted like only 15% of our workforce have a BAME background, but my gut feel and fear is that, in the real world, the figure is much lower.

We're making it our mission to make a difference, but we can't do it alone. We're looking for progressive, forward thinking media businesses to become founding partners. You will need to share the same goals & objectives as us though.

This is not a tick-box exercise where you do one thing, and forget about it. Neither is it about employing the wrong kind of talent just to fill a seat.

I have no doubt, our industry no longer discriminates against certain groups of talent, but being “open” is a very different matter to rolling up your sleeves and actively searching out for that talent.

We know you’ve got 101 things on your to do list, and whilst you have every intention of doing something about it, somehow, it never makes it to the top of the list.

The TalentWorks Academy does all the heavy lifting, but only the serious & committed need apply.
